Okay, so Luke wears this outfit every time it's clean, I admit it! I love it! Luke, on the other hand, is loving his feet!

Evidently the steering wheel being on the other side of the car didn't faze our little driver.

Oh- she also likes to go through doors...many, many times!

New things R is saying:

Just a second.
me: Rebekah, put your shoes on.
R: I will in juuuuust a second. I'm watching my movie right now.

That will hurt me/That hurts Bekah

R: What's that? Is it an ant?
me: No, there aren't any ants on the slide. It's a piece of dirt.
R: Move it! That will hurt me/That hurts Bekah.

Little bit more
R: Can I have a liiiittle bit more cookie dough/butter/Mommy's drink?

Mmmhmm and uh-huh as affirmations
me: Do you want some frosting?
R: Mmmmhmmm!

Luke "eating"

Luke had his first "bites" yesterday! Josh got him this precious high chair practically for free and it was time to try it out!

Now, let me preface this all by saying that Little Miss Rebekah was NOT to be left out. She excitedly picked out the bowl and spoon and helped me "make" the rice cereal. As all experienced mums know, you do NOT try to spoon-feed a starving baby for the first time after a 3 hour nap! So, I told R that we had to wait until Luke finished most of his bottle. She patiently sat at the table, stirring his "cereal," insisting she wanted some, too, the whole time I fed Luke. The SECOND he was finished, she excitedly exclaimed, "Now Lukey gets to eat his cereal!" I got to give the first bite, but then it was all Big Sister. She LOVED it. He did not. However, being the second time around, I know that it is more practice than anything at this point and I wasn't discouraged!

This is quintessential Luke. LOOOOVE that face!

Another exciting event on the same day!! We got our first package of American goodies nowhere to be found in the UK! I'm not sure who was more excited- Rebes or myself! She delightedly rejoiced over each item! You'll be interested to know that we have taken to swinging Tic Tacs now, in lieu of Lamby.

In other news-

Rebekah now takes herself to the potty and does the whole shebang by HERSELF! Man, life is good!

She actually said to me, "Mama, I'd like some more meatloaf and green beans, please." What mom doesn't love that?

Lamby now has needs and wants- for instance, Lamby might need to eat a snack, go swinging, or watch a movie. Not Rebekah, mind you. She's just looking out for Lamby.

She has 2 new words she has made up: Choo choo choo and ca ca ca. She uses them as replacement words when she's being silly, such as "Can I choo choo choo on this? Does this have ca ca ca?" Choo choo choo is a verb and ca ca ca is a noun. Makes the Enlgish major in me proud and the linguist in me astonished, to say the least.

Ballater

Yesterday, the fam traveled 40 miles out of town (traveling 40 miles took about 1 1/2 hrs due to the roads) to a sweet little town called Ballater. We passed a sign that said "You have now entered the Highlands"- pretty cool! It was a gorgeous drive. We planned on walking around more, but Rebekah was delighted to spot a playground- who are we to say no? Sweet Luke slept most of the way there and went back to sleep in his carrier- such a stud. Both the kids slept in the car on the way home- we were shocked that Luke's screeching the last 15 minutes didn't even make Rebekah blink in her deep sleep. I was afraid nap time would be shot, but Luke went back to sleep at home, too- such a champ! R tried to go back to sleep, but images of popsicles danced in her head.

Side note- Luke is finally sleeping thru the night!!! We quit feeding him past 10pm ages ago, but we finally dropped that feed (we had been waking him) and he sleeps from about 7pm-6:30am with one paci plug at 5 something- it is glorious!!!! Josh is my hero- he has been the getter upper for a while now and he finally can get a full night's sleep, too! Luke is sooo my boy- we LOVE our sleep- he snoozed 3 hours this morning, 2 1/2 this afternoon and still needed a 3rd nap! I had to wake him at 7pm just to get a 4th feeding in and he went back down 45 minutes later after cooing at us. On the other hand, Rebekah always slept well at night, but barely napped and even now only naps for 1 1/2 hrs on the dot! That's very Josh.

I did want to document that Luke and I were indeed present. If you were wondering where he got his dimples from- ta da! (think Gob in Arrested Development) I don't know why more people don't think he looks like me! Seriously, this is MY kid! I pushed that 9lb baby out and I deserve some credit...the epidural gets the rest...

The "beach"

I casually mentioned the other day that we going to the "beach". I say "beach" because we never made it down to the water and because Rebekah was not impressed with a beach that didn't involve her "swimsoup." Upon mentioning the beach, she went straight to find her "swimsoup." It was hard explaining why she wouldn't even want to get in the North Sea.

This was the way up...and the various views of Aberdeen we had. We ended up playing at the play area instead of wandering down to the beach. We'll go again on a pretty day.

Luke giggling

I couldn't resist posting this! It reminded me of Amanda's last post of Sam! We were pulling the string and making the caterpillar (thanks, Carrie for this gift!) vibrate on Luke's face- he LOVED it! We didn't get all of his laughing, but you can hear some. You can also hear Rebekah announce in the background that she needed to poopy, then she needed to come back to watch Backyardigans (she loves to tell us when she needs to potty that she needs to potty, but come back to whatever she was doing, especially at meal or movie time- Lord forbid I forget and she misses out)... the joys of mothering! Fun times. :)

side note: We were just outside swinging R's animals. They had a great time incidentally. So, we passed by a tire that used to be a swing. This is what R thought about it:

"Somebody broke that tire swing....(looking sad)...somebody should put it back on....(not liking her word choice)...somebody should put it back together, then it wouldn't be sad. (With a satisfied nod) Somebody should fix it."

It won't let me space right- the house is just a cute one on the way to the dr. I loved the hydrangea...

The last one is of the mall...haven't really explored it...R was devastated that we went to a mall w/o a play area...we looked and looked- nowhere to be found. :(
