A Fun Day

Rebekah slept a lot last night and woke up energized and ready to look adorable! Josh and I had a great morning with her and wanted to share some fun times with you...

Blanket Time...

Story time before my nap...Guess How Much I Love You?

I love extra time with Dad on the weekends!

Here I am after a fun and exhausting time at the dog park with Mom, Dad, and Samson...yes, we still have a dog (who is feeling quite neglected, I must say).

This was after Mom got me to quiet down after quite a pout and upset, so it's pretty special to her!

Shot Week

Rebekah received her 2-month shots on Wednesday (although she was actually 10 weeks on Weds). It was heart-breaking to hear her cry in pain, but she calmed after a few minutes and slept it off that day. I also received news that day that my sister-in-law's sister (my brother Billy's wife, Becky- her sister, Jamie) had her baby boy that day! Big week! Anyway, Rebekah has been playing with sleeping thru the night again- it seems to happen a little less than half the time, but when she does it, it is wonderful! Sleeping 11-8 is something I did not fully appreciate before having a baby! However, we can't complain- we (and by "we", I mean me :) ) feed her at 7 or 8 p.m. and Rebe sleeps until I wake her up to feed 3 hours later and then we let her wake us up for her next one- it's either 4 or 5 a.m. or 7 or 8 a.m. If she does the earlier wake-up, she still goes back to sleep until 7 or 8...so, really, she's sleeping without even fighting it from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m.

We are counting down the days until we come to Dallas next week!

Here are some pics for your viewing pelasure...

Bath time...

Mom says this is my grandaddy's (Bill McCord) face!

Swing time is for playing...

But, if Mom's not careful, I might fall asleep!

Play time on Aunt Helen's Blanket!

Dad already adores me!

Sometimes he even mimics me...aren't I supposed to be the one doing that?

I love this outfit because I got it from my cousin Kendall and she got it from her aunts and it even has ants!

Two doctors have mentioned they can feel where my teeth are and I have been drooling excessively, so, again Dad has decided to jump ahead and let me chew on a frozen teething ring- I LOVED licking it even tho it made my face cold!

Rebekah & Josh

A few more cute pics before we head off to The Theology Program at church...

Josh and Rebekah taking a stroll this morning...This is in front of our house and you can see one of the 3 window boxes my dad custom-designed and made for us the week of Rebekah's birth.

Still lovin' the Bumbo...

My "Sunday" Best...

As many of you know, Josh is the new young adults pastor at Parkview Church here in Iowa City. Prior to Josh's hire, the young adults group was about 30 folks called Crossroads and met on your typical Sunday morning. We now meet on Saturday evening after the service and are called Missio Dei, which means mission of God (makes me think of Blues Brothers). Both times we have met we have had between 65 and 75 young adults- marrieds, singles, grad students, etc.! It has been very exciting since you never know how a Saturday night church service is going to go.

In honor of our new meeting, it was of paramount importance that Rebekah be dressed appropriately- i.e. super-cute! While little Rebe is growing ever longer, she is still such a peanut- I think she is starting to fatten up, but a chubby baby we simply do not have! As such, I am struggling to dress her up since everything is so much wider than she is. However, I forced a dress on her and it was worth it!

I took these in the cry room during church- 2 things are worth noting: 1) No crying was taking place 2) I still exited the service and went in because my daughter was so cute and I just wanted to play with her...I plan on using the nursery next week after Rebekah receives her immunizations so I can focus on God and stuff...

I am constantly in motion...and, yes, Dee, Mer, & Haley, I am wearing the shoes you gave me!

This is the face I make when I'm cooing...Mom says I look like a coyote howling at the moon...

Carseats are so much fun!

Mom is so proud of me!!

Okay, so yea, I wear this outfit a lot, but I sure look cute in it!

Looking at My Mobile & Other Fun Events

Rebekah is finally noticing her surroundings and all the toys and gadgets we (you!) bought her!

And, just in case you thought all I did was smile and Mom and Dad always have it easy...Dad at least seems to be pretty sympathetic, don't you think?

Bumbo Time

My Aunt Kathy highly recommended a "bumbo" for our little princess due to the fact that her own darling grandaughter, Olivia, loved hers- a Bumbo is a rubber "chair" that enables a baby to sit before she has the abdominal or back muscles to do so on her own. It also (as my mom's friend, Karen Smiley, pointed out) "cages" the child so that she does not crawl away. We are not too worried about crawling just yet, but Miss Rebekah is quite a mover and loves to observe her surroundings. So, as all proud and doting dads are fond of doing, Josh has pushed the 3 months or older warning aside and rigged the bumbo so that Rebekah can enjoy it at 2 months! This invloves a heavy, straight magazine for back support and a folded up blanket for tummy support.

So, do you think Rebekah likes her new view of the world?

Naptime with Mom

Sometimes it's just too tempting to nap together! However, I never sleep because I just stare at how cute Rebekah is!

Weekly Gatherings

Every Wednesday a group of new moms from our church get together at one of our houses with our babies. It's pretty funny trying to coordinate naps and waketime and feedings, etc., but we have a blast comparing notes and hopefully encouraging each other. Here are some pics from our last meeting.

Havign a Blast (I wear this ourfit a lot because my mom loves it!)

Playing with Carter who is 5 days younger than I am

Here is me smiling again

This is David and Grace playing...already a couple!

What a Blessing!

Josh and I are marveling at what a blessing we have in Rebekah. She truly is the sweetest baby alive and we are loving seeing more and more of her happy disposition develop almost daily. Rebekah LOVES the movement of ceiling fans and coos at them almost more than at us! She is making new sounds everyday- in fact, I heard in a linguistics class that babies are capable of making every phonetic sound, but they filter out the ones their parents don't repeat back to them...so, since I had such a speech impediment with rolling my r's (yes, I taught Spanish anyway), Josh and I started rolling our r's for her last night...call it coincidence, but she brought her tongue to her lips and kind of tried to do it- twice! Genius, I tell 'ya!

A walk in the Snugli with Mom & Dad- we took a trail not too far from our house and Rebekah could not stop looking around. She delights in being outside. We call it the Bill McCord factor.

Trying to stay awake in Mom's arms...

Well...it didn't last long, but, my, how great sleep (and my mom) are!

Everyone wants to play with me! This was at Nate and Amanda's house on labor Day- Grace loved Rebekah!

I'm still pretty happy! (How could I not be with such great feet?)

Mom makes me smile! (Yes, I am eating up my daughter's smiles at me- and documenting them all!)

Still Smiling...

I'm posting a another pic from Mom's trip, but the others are from yesterday with Daddy Josh going a little crazy on picture taking! We just don't know how Rebekah could be any cuter!! Josh and I sound like idiots when we play with her- every smile, every coo, every babble, every little thing melts our hearts and we imitate it all just to hear her do it again...ah- the joys of parenthood. :) Since the first month was a little rough for me to say the least, it is so wonderful to be enjoying each moment more.
